The Explosive Growth of the AI Market and Its Impact on Training
The global Artificial Intelligence (AI) market is going through a phase of unprecedented growth, with projections indicating a value of 1.81 trillion dollars by 2030 and a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35.9% from 2025. This expansion, faster than that of cloud computing and the mobile app economy of the early 2010s, is largely driven by generative AI, which has shown "unprecedented potential" and "widespread integration" from 2022 to 2025. As early as the start of 2023, more than 4 billion prompts were being issued daily across the leading Large Language Model (LLM) platforms such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and Mistral.
This dizzying growth translates directly into a rising demand for AI skills, fuelling the online training sector. AI will generate 97 million new jobs worldwide by 2025, while displacing 85 million, for a net gain of 12 million positions. This scenario imposes a massive imperative to reskill and upskill across a wide range of sectors and job functions.
Among the emerging trends set to have a profound impact on training, the rise of "AI Agents" stands out, expected to become the next "buzzword" by 2025. This will require organisations to develop in-house skills to manage these advanced technologies effectively. Moreover, the "reckoning" with generative AI compels companies to invest in solid data management practices in order to fully harness its potential. Finally, AI literacy is destined to become a mandatory requirement, with the prediction that "AI Literacy" will become a compulsory part of national school curricula.
For training providers, this means a highly dynamic and profitable market, but also the need to offer relevant, up-to-date content that keeps pace with rapid technological progress and the shifting needs of the sector.
